HALLOWEEN

What fun we all had on Halloween! The children looked absolutely adorable in their Halloween costumes!  We were very proud of them and extremely impressed with how well they marched around campus while “taking in the sights” at the same time.  Thanks for your help with costumes and having the children ready to go.  Also, thank you to all who contributed food, drinks, and goodies for our special Halloween celebration.  We appreciate your help and generosity.

THANKSGIVING

PreKers are busy learning about Thanksgiving - it’s origins, significance and traditions.  Through conversation, stories and activities we hope to help the children develop a better understanding of, and appreciation for, this important American holiday.

READING BUDDIES MINI-FEAST

As you read about in our last newsletter, one of our most treasured PreK traditions is our annual Mini-Thanksgiving Feast with Reading Buddies.  It will take place this Friday, November 18th at about 9:00 AM.  Thank you to all who signed up to bring in snacks and paper goods.  Please bring them all directly to the classroom upon arrival - READY TO SERVE.   Also remember  NOT to send in their regular snack and don’t be surprised if they don’t eat as much as usual for lunch.

CAN VAN FOOD DRIVE

TCS is continuing to collect cans and other non-perishable foods to  help fill up the TCS CAN VAN.  All food collected will be donated to area soup kitchens.   Your help, as always, is greatly appreciated.  There is a container for PreK donations in the hallway / lobby.  Look for the bookmark your child has brought home that gives you a list of the most helpful items.  Thank you in advance for your generous contributions!

THANKSGIVING VACATION

TCS will be closed Wednesday, November 23rd through Sunday, November 27th  for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Have a wonderful, relaxing holiday.

ALL ABOUT BEARS

Beginning next week we will be focusing on the study of bears.  We will be learning some very interesting facts while expanding our bear-related vocabulary about brown bears, American black bears, Asiatic black bears, polar bears, Sloth bears, Sun bears, and Spectacled bears.  We have lots of fun activities planned and will keep you informed of our progress.
SPECIAL BEAR DAYS

In the near future we will be sending home a notice with some specific requests regarding our unit on bears.  Please help your child remember each of the special tasks they are given.    Thanks in advance for your help.

THE 40 BEAR BOOK CHALLENGE

The PreKers will soon be hearing about our 40 bear book challenge!  We set a goal of reading 40 books about bears (both fiction and nonfiction) during our unit on bears.  We will try our best, write a list of all the titles, and count daily to see how many we have read and how many more we have to go.  We’ll let you know the end result.
