PreK Press
April 19th  - May 8th

PreK CONCERT:  We are so proud of the PreKers and the wonderful job they did during their PreK Concert!  They were very excited to be on stage to perform for all of you and their Reading Buddies.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK:  Many thanks to all of you for your kind and thoughtful expressions of appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week.  From food to flowers to gifts to all of the beautiful cards and notes, please know that we are extremely grateful!

CLIMBING WALL UPDATE:  As we watch the PreKers grow in confidence, agility, and size we are pleased to announce that the climbing walls on the outdoor playscapes are now officially available to all PreK students.

PreK TALENTS: The children have continued to impress us with their willingness and ability to share talents with Reading Buddies!  As you know, it is much more about their opportunity to be in front of a group than it is about their actual talents and interests.   Sam wowed all of us with his ability to jump on one foot for an extended period of time, Khaleesi did a great job singing a song from Beauty and the Beast while playing the guitar, Jimmy shared his interest and ability in building with Legos, Soleil talked about her interest in nature and showed us some of the objects she had collected, Ellery shared his interest and knowledge of lacrosse and demonstrated some of his moves, and Cristina did an amazing job of hula hooping while singing This Little Light of Mine.  We are so proud of how well they all did and look forward to our next presenters.

FIELD TRIP TO GRASS ISLAND:  One of our favorite PreK traditions is our annual field trip to Grass Island (in Madison) with our Reading Buddies.  It is scheduled for Thursday, May 18th.  Additional information and the required permission slip is attached to this newsletter. In the meantime, please note that parents (no younger siblings please) are invited to meet us there.  Please put the date on your calendar and join us if you are able.

PreK STEAM CELEBRATION OF LEARNING:  Please join us Friday, May 19th for our STEAM Celebration of Learning - Bridges.  It will take place from 8:00 - 8:40 AM in the PreK classroom, Clark House foyer and the STEAM Lab.

GRANDPARENTS & SPECIAL FRIENDS DAYS: Grandparents & Special Friends Day is fast approaching and the children are busy preparing some songs and activities for our visitors.   Particularly for those who are new to TCS this year, Grandparents & Special Friends Day (GSFD for short) is a very special day for The Country School.  There is a tremendous amount of planning and preparation that takes place behind the scenes to make it a successful and rewarding day for everyone - students and visitors alike. There are still many volunteer opportunities available for parents, so please speak up if you are able to help. Those guests visiting in PreK this Friday will be escorted from the gym to the classroom at 10:30.  Here the children will share activities, give classroom tours, move to the STEAM Lab for a story, and end with a concert/share time back in our classroom.  At 12:00 all students and guests are invited to move either to the gym or the music room for a special lunch provided by the school. PreK students with older siblings attending TCS will go to the gym and PreK students without older siblings at TCS will go to the music room.  We are hoping to see all PreKers with their guests enjoying the food and festivities.

At 1:15 guests can either:
 1) leave the campus with their PreK grandchild

 2) return their grandchild to the PreK classroom for the remainder of
the afternoon (if that is the child’s usual schedule) before they leave

 3) or, if guests are staying for older sibling activities in the afternoon, return their
grandchild (again if that is the child’s usual schedule) to the PreK classroom and
then join their older grandchild and their activities

PARENTS - WE NEED YOUR HELP!
EVEN IF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE RSVP’D TO THE SCHOOL, IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT ALL PARENTS LET US KNOW BY WEDNESDAY WHO WILL BE JOINING YOUR CHILD ON FRIDAY.  WE NEED TO KNOW THE FOLLOWING:
  1. The number of guests attending
  2. The names of the guests
  3. Their relationship to your child
  4. How many will be going to lunch
  5. What the dismissal plan for your child is - 1:15, 3:00, or Owl’s Nest, and WHO will be taking your child home

It is imperative that every child have at least one grown-up here so let us know if there are any extenuating circumstances and we will work something out!  As always, if you have any questions just ask. We look forward to a fun and extremely busy day.
